By creating an account or using the Paul application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the app. These terms form a binding contract between you and MAIA.
Paul is a workout tracking application that allows you to log training sessions, exercises, sets, repetitions, and loads using natural language input powered by AI. Paul is a tracking tool and does not constitute medical advice, a medical device, or a substitute for professional fitness or healthcare guidance.
You must be at least 15 years old (the age of digital consent under French law) to use Paul, or have obtained the authorisation of a parent or legal guardian if you are under 15. You must hold a valid Apple ID and comply with Apple's terms of service. By using Paul, you represent that you meet these requirements.
Access to Paul requires Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple ID and for all activities that occur under your account. If you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account, you must notify us immediately at [email protected].
Paul offers auto-renewable subscription plans, including a monthly plan (P1M) and a yearly plan (P1Y). New subscribers benefit from a 3-day free trial, offered once per Apple ID; any unused portion of the free trial is forfeited upon subscribing to a paid plan. Subscriptions are billed by Apple at the price displayed at the time of purchase or on the App Store listing — MAIA does not set or collect payment directly. Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. To manage or cancel your subscription, go to the App Store → tap your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Important: deleting your Paul account does NOT cancel your Apple subscription; you must cancel it separately via Apple, or you will continue to be billed. Refunds are governed by Apple's refund policy. MAIA may, at its sole discretion, grant complementary ("comp") access to the service free of charge.
You agree not to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Paul application; not to use the AI input feature in an abusive, automated, or unlawful manner; not to submit false or misleading data; not to use the service for any purpose that violates applicable law; and not to allow use of your account by a minor without appropriate parental authorisation.
You retain full ownership of the workout data you enter into Paul. If you enable the "Help improve Paul" toggle in Settings, you grant MAIA a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to review the workout text inputs associated with your account for the sole purpose of improving the Paul service. You may withdraw this licence at any time by disabling the toggle, after which no further inputs will be reviewed for improvement purposes.
The Paul application, including its name, polar-bear mascot, software, user interface, and design, is the exclusive property of MAIA and is protected by intellectual property law. These terms do not grant you any right or licence beyond the personal, non-transferable right to use the application on your Apple devices in accordance with these terms.
Paul is a workout tracking tool and is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, and is not a substitute for professional medical or physiotherapeutic guidance. Before starting, changing, or intensifying any exercise programme, you should consult a qualified physician or healthcare professional, particularly if you have a pre-existing medical condition, are pregnant, or have known health risks. By using Paul, you expressly assume all risk of injury or adverse health effects arising from your exercise activities. If you experience pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain, or any other unusual symptom during exercise, stop immediately and seek medical attention. Any suggestions, volume recommendations, or exercise cues provided by the app are informational and algorithmic in nature; they do not constitute personalised medical or physiotherapeutic advice and MAIA does not represent that use of the app will prevent injury or improve health outcomes.
The Paul application is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MAIA disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of content, and uninterrupted or error-free service. Nothing in these terms limits rights you may have as a consumer under mandatory French or EU law.
To the fullest extent permitted by French law, MAIA shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of data, personal injury arising from exercise, or loss of profits. MAIA's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service shall not exceed the total amounts you have paid to Apple for a Paul subscription in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory French or EU consumer law.
MAIA may suspend or terminate your access to Paul at any time if you materially breach these terms. You may terminate your account at any time by deleting it within the app. Upon termination, all licences granted to you under these terms cease; however, provisions relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law shall survive termination.
Apple Inc. is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms of Use and, upon your acceptance of these terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these terms against you. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to provide any maintenance or support services with respect to Paul.
These Terms of Use are governed by French law. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms that cannot be resolved amicably shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Grasse, France, without prejudice to the right of EU consumers to bring claims before the courts of their country of domicile.
